This rainstick is handcrafted by artisans of the Pataxó tribe in southern Brazil, using natural materials gathered from their environment. Made from hollowed wood and filled with seeds, each piece is carefully constructed to create the soft, steady sound of falling rain. Each piece will vary in size and design.
The sound it carries is calming and rhythmic, often used to bring a sense of stillness and connection. Traditionally, rainsticks are associated with nature, used to evoke rain, restore balance, and support moments of reflection or ritual.
Each one is unique in tone, texture, and pattern. This rainstick is an expression of the relationship between people, sound, and the natural world.
Our founder, Kumba Shakur, traveled from Miami to southern Bahia, to curate the Tales from the Pataxó collection. Each piece was chosen for its symbolism and craftsmanship, offering something you can connect with and learn from. These adornments invite you into other ways of living and seeing the world.
At Tales of the Wind, we remain committed to honoring and preserving culture while supporting the communities and artisans behind each piece.
