These coconut shell rattle shakers are handmade by artisans of the Pataxó tribe in southern Bahia, Brazil. Each piece is formed from natural coconut shells, filled with seeds, and finished with wood gathered from the land around. No two are exactly alike.
The sound is raw, earthy and grounding. It has a cleansing effect that elevates vibrations. You can use this rattle shaker in music, meditation, rituals, or personal moments.
In many Indigenous traditions, rattles are used to mark rhythm, clear energy, and support connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. The movement and sound work together, creating a steady pulse that brings focus and intention.
Our founder, Kumba Shakur, traveled from Miami to southern Bahia, to curate the Tales from the Pataxó collection. Each piece was chosen for its symbolism and craftsmanship, offering something you can connect with and learn from. These adornments invite you into other ways of living and seeing the world.
At Tales of the Wind, we remain committed to honoring and preserving culture while supporting the communities and artisans behind each piece.
